On 25 and 26 November 2025, the government's performance in implementing the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) is being assessed by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) during its 116th session in Geneva from 17 November to 5 December 2025.

The interactive dialogues between Committee members and government representatives were webcast live on Tuesday, 25 November from 3pm to 6pm (NZ time: Wednesday, 26 November, from 3am to 6am) and on Wednesday, 26 November from 10am to 1pm (NZ time: Wednesday, 26 November, from 10pm to 1am on Thursday, 27 November), and are now permanently available on those links. The government delegation
The government delegation was led by Minister of Justice Paul Goldsmith, accompanied by Andrew Kibblewhite, Secretary for Justice and Chief Executive, Ministry of Justice, and officials from the Ministry of Justice, Police, Ministry of Health, Te Puni Kōkiri, and the Ministry of Education, as well as diplomatic representatives from the New Zealand Permanent Mission to the UN.
